Enjoy your South West stay with the right care and support

A family holiday, wedding or special celebration should be something everyone can look forward to. If you or an older family member needs support with everyday activities, Capecare may be able to provide short-term home care at your holiday accommodation.

Home Care on Holiday can help older visitors continue familiar routines and receive practical, personal or clinical support while staying in Busselton, Dunsborough and selected surrounding areas. It can also give family members greater confidence and more time to enjoy their holiday together.

Whether you are planning a family break from Perth, attending a South West wedding or visiting loved ones, our local Community team will work with you to understand the support required and determine what services may be available during your stay.

Home Care on Holiday is short-term care provided where you are staying, helping an older person travel without having to leave essential support behind.

It makes travel more accessible for older people.

Depending on individual needs, staff availability and the suitability of the accommodation, Capecare can arrange multiple visits during your stay.

The service may suit:

  • Older people travelling from Perth or elsewhere in Western Australia
  • Families planning a multigenerational holiday in the South West
  • Older wedding guests who need assistance before, after or during wedding celebrations
  • People visiting family or friends in the region
  • Family carers who would value additional support or time to rest during their break
  • Existing aged care clients who want to explore local care options while away from home

Care is tailored to the individual. We take the time to understand the person’s needs, preferences, routines and goals before confirming whether we can safely provide the requested services.

How we may support you during your stay

Depending on your assessed needs and service availability, Home Care on Holiday may include:

  • Personal care: Assistance with showering, dressing, grooming and other personal routines
  • Medication support: Assistance with approved medication routines, following an assessment and agreed care plan
  • Nursing care: Nursing support for eligible and clinically appropriate needs
  • Meal preparation: Help preparing simple, nutritious meals at your accommodation
  • Social support and companionship: Friendly company and support to stay connected and enjoy your time away and access to our Social Centre in Broadwater
  • Respite for family carers: Planned support that allows a family carer to attend an activity, wedding or appointment, or simply take a break
  • Community access: Assistance to attend local appointments, shops or activities where this is agreed in advance

Our Community team will discuss the person’s care requirements, accommodation and holiday plans before any booking is confirmed.

Tell us about your holiday and care needs

Complete the enquiry form below or call our Community Home Care team. Let us know your travel dates, where you will be staying, the type of assistance required and how frequently support may be needed.

A family member, carer or authorised representative is welcome to make the initial enquiry. We will involve the person receiving care in planning and decisions wherever possible and obtain the appropriate consent before services begin.

  • 2

    We discuss the person’s needs

A member of our team will contact you to learn more. We may ask for an existing care plan, medication information, mobility requirements, relevant health information and the contact details of the person’s usual provider or health professional.

This helps us assess whether Capecare can provide the requested support safely and appropriately. A service cannot be confirmed until this process is complete.

  • 3

We prepare a care plan and Service Agreement

If we can assist, we will agree on the services, visit times and responsibilities with you. We will also explain the fees and provide a written estimate or quote before you confirm the booking.

  • 4

Care is provided at your accommodation

Our team will visit the agreed holiday address and provide the services set out in the care plan. The accommodation must be safe and suitable for the planned care. If equipment is required, this will need to be discussed and arranged before arrival.

  • 5

    Enjoy your time away

With planned support in place, the whole family can spend more time enjoying the holiday, wedding or celebration together.

How much does Home Care on Holiday cost?

Home Care on Holiday can be arranged using your Support at Home package or as a private, self-funded service. If self-funding, the total cost will depend on:

  • The type of care or support required
  • The number and length of visits
  • The day and time services are provided
  • Whether care is required on a weekend, evening or public holiday

Any assessment, travel, equipment or cancellation charges that may apply

Indicative fees

Support at Home and Self-funded.

Minimum visit duration: 1-hour minimum visit with a 2-hour initial set up visit with a Capecare Registered Nurse.
Travel fees: included in unit cost
Cancellation terms: 24 hours before service booking

We will explain all applicable charges and provide an estimate before services are booked. No care will commence until the agreed services, schedule and fees have been confirmed.

Can I use government-funded aged care support while on holiday?

If you receive Support at Home services, contact Capecare and your current provider before travelling. Whether funding can be used will depend on your approved support plan, your provider’s arrangements, and program requirements.

Where funded arrangements are not available, you may still be able to book suitable services privately.

Plan early, especially for busy periods

The South West is particularly busy during school holidays, long weekends, summer and the wedding season. Care services are subject to staffing and location, so early enquiries give us the best opportunity to assess your needs and plan suitable support.

We recommend contacting us early. More notice may be needed for nursing care, complex needs, several daily visits, equipment or public holiday services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can arrange Home Care on Holiday?

The person requiring care can contact us directly, or an adult child, family member, carer or authorised representative can make the initial enquiry on their behalf. Appropriate consent and information will be required before care is arranged.

Can you provide care at a hotel, resort or holiday rental?

Care may be available at private holiday homes, short-stay rentals, hotels, resorts or a family member’s home. We will need the full address and may need to confirm access, parking and whether the accommodation is safe and suitable for the requested care. Permission from the accommodation provider may also be required.

Can you help an older family member attend a wedding?

Yes. We can support an older person attending a wedding or special event if they meet our current requirements for social support . Please enquire early and provide the wedding date, venue, timings and required assistance and we will advise.

Is there a minimum number of visits?

There is a 1-hour minimum visit plus a 2-hour initial set up visit with one of our Registered Nurses. All services remain subject to assessment and availability.

Can you provide overnight or 24-hour care?

This service is not currently available. We do however offer residential respite care in our Busselton and Dunsborough aged care facilities. We recommend making enquiries with plenty of notice as it is an in-demand service.

What happens if plans change?

Contact us as soon as possible. Changes are subject to availability, and cancellation fees may apply in line with the terms provided when you book.
