Capecare Respite services enhanced to ensure continued community support

Capecare has taken proactive steps to review and refine the way we deliver respite services to the community.

These enhancements are designed to ensure that older people, their carers, families and our broader community continue to receive the support they need when they need it, while also supporting evolving aged care policy changes.

Our Capecare respite model has been refreshed to ensure all eligible Capes community members can continue to access these important services.

The priority for respite, and indeed all of our aged care services, is to ensure that older people, their carers and families, and our community continue to receive the support they need, when they need it.

New Respite Hubs in Busselton and Dunsborough

A dedicated Respite Hub has been established at Capecare Busselton, and our Dunsborough facility respite service continues, providing a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for older people requiring short term respite care for two weeks or more.

Hub respite beds are available to:

  • Existing Capecare clients
  • Older community members
  • People eligible for residential respite

The Respite Hub provides 24-hour care by trained staff, meals and access to social activities, lounges and gardens.

Any health needs will be managed by our 24-hour trained clinical team during a Respite stay.

We welcome clients living with dementia. Please contact us to discuss your individual circumstances.

In-home respite

Capecare offers in-home day respite options, ensuring carers have greater choice in how and where they receive support. The person receiving the care and support doesn’t need to leave the familiarity and comfort of their own home while their carer takes a well-earned break or attend urgent appointments.

Day respite

We remain committed to providing day respite programs at Capecare Busselton’s Social Centre for clients who receive support through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme or Support at Home program.

Our Social Centre has successfully provided social connection, meaningful activities, and support for carers for a number of years.

Social Centre clients also have access to our allied health professionals.

Features include:

  • Social engagement with fellow community members, staff and volunteers
  • Variety of scheduled craft, games, gardening, musical and creative activities
  • Menu selection for lunch plus morning and afternoon tea and refreshments
  • Attended by dedicated, trained care staff.

Time to Think Program

Capecare is WA’s first regional location for the WA Government’s Time to Think program.

Time to Think allows older people in the South West more time to plan their next steps following a hospital stay, and in turn helps to free hospital beds and provide a dedicated support service.
